500T Mobile Boat Hoist Solution for a Nigeria Shipyard

Project Overview
A shipyard in Nigeria required a reliable lifting solution to support the launching of newly built 500 tons vessels. The shipyard operates in a high-salinity coastal environment, where heavy lifting equipment must withstand corrosion while maintaining operational stability. After evaluating several suppliers, the shipyard selected AICRANE to provide a customized lifting solution.
Product:MBH-500
Application:For handling large vessels
Installation time:December 10, 2024
Location:Nigeria
Project Requirements & Challenges
Launching large vessels in the shipyard presented several engineering and operational challenges:

Hull Protection During Launch: During the transition from land to water, the vessel structure must remain balanced to avoid hull distortion or structural stress.
Harsh Marine Environment: The equipment would operate in a high-salinity coastal environment, requiring strong corrosion protection and durable components to ensure long-term reliability.
Limited Dock Space: The shipyard’s dock area had restricted maneuvering space, requiring a lifting system with precise control and efficient movement capabilities.
Our Solution
To address these challenges, AICRANE designed and delivered a customized MBH-500 Mobile Boat Hoist, optimized for the shipyard’s operating conditions.

Synchronized Lifting Control
A PLC synchronized lifting system was implemented to ensure balanced load distribution across all lifting points, preventing hull deformation during lifting and launching.
Anti-Corrosion Structural Protection
The hoist was equipped with special anti-corrosion coatings and marine-grade components, designed to withstand the harsh coastal environment and extend equipment lifespan.
Efficient Maneuverability in Limited Space
The crane was engineered with precise steering and control systems, allowing safe and efficient vessel handling even within the shipyard’s constrained dock layout.
Results & Customer Feedback
After installation and commissioning, the MBH-500 delivered strong performance and operational improvements for the shipyard:

- The first vessel launch was completed with zero hull stress or surface damage.
- The shipyard’s vessel launching capacity increased by 60%.
- The customer rated the project “highly satisfactory” for both efficiency and reliability.
